Digital Marketing Intern – Work Experience
Type: Internship / Work Experience Placement
Duration: 4 Months

Pay: Unpaid – Voluntary Internship (work-experience) position however we will cover reasonable food and travel expenses.
Exam Centre is offering a voluntary work experience opportunity for someone passionate about digital marketing and eager to contribute to real projects that actively drive business growth. You will work closely with a member of staff to support and deliver our digital marketing strategy, with a strong focus on increasing visibility, enquiries, and engagement.
This placement is ideal for students, recent graduates, or career changers who want hands-on experience across social media, SEO, content, and digital campaigns, while building a strong, practical UK based portfolio. A professional reference will be provided upon successful completion of the 4-month placement.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and schedule regular social media content to increase engagement and brand visibility
Support off-site SEO activities, including backlink outreach, citations, directory listings, and keyword research
Assist with activities that improve search engine rankings and online presence
Contribute to website content, blogs, and SEO-driven articles
Assist with the setup and optimisation of paid campaigns (e.g. Google Ads, Meta Ads)
Support website performance and basic SEO improvements
Work in line with our internal marketing plan, with ongoing guidance and feedback from staff
Track and record activities and outcomes for use in your portfolio or case studies

As part of our growing work in digital skills, employability and employer-led learning, we are looking for a motivated and creative Digital Marketing, Web Design & AI Project Officer. This role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of digital marketing, web design and AI who wants to build a long-term career in education, employability, project delivery or employer engagement.
We are willing to invest in the right person and support their development based on their strengths. Over time, the role may develop towards teaching/training, employer engagement, project coordination or a combination of these areas.
About the Role
This is a varied role combining digital knowledge, learner support, project coordination, employer communication and day-to-day delivery support.
You will work closely with tutors, project coordinators, managers, employers, partners and learners to support the successful delivery of digital and employability-focused programmes. You may help with learner communication, digital project tasks, portfolio development, employer-led briefs, course resources, workshops, marketing activities and project administration.
Our learners may be working towards areas such as Digital Marketing & AI, Web Design, digital skills, employability and portfolio-based projects. The role will involve supporting learners to build practical skills and confidence while helping the organisation strengthen employer and partner links.
Over time, depending on your skills and interests, the role may develop towards one of the following pathways:
Tutor / Trainer – supporting or delivering digital marketing, web design and AI sessions.
Employer Engagement Specialist – working with employers, securing projects, vacancies, interviews and progression opportunities.
Project Coordinator – managing learner journeys, project delivery, reporting, compliance and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Digital Marketing & AI, Web Design and related digital programmes.
- Assist learners with practical digital tasks, portfolios and project work.
- Support tutors and project staff with digital resources, lesson materials and learner activities.
- Help learners use tools such as WordPress, Canva, AI tools, social media platforms and digital marketing software.
- Support employer-led projects, live briefs and learner presentations.
- Communicate with learners about attendance, progress, tasks and deadlines.
- Work with employers and partners to support projects, referrals and progression opportunities.
- Assist with project coordination, learner records, reporting and day-to-day administration.
- Support marketing and promotion of digital courses, community projects and employability services.
- Help create or improve digital content, website materials, social media posts or campaign ideas.
- Support learners with basic employability activities linked to digital roles, portfolios and interviews.
- Contribute ideas to improve course delivery, learner experience, employer involvement and referral pathways.
- Help build relationships with partners and community organisations to increase referrals into our services.
Person Specification
The successful candidate must have:
- A degree in Digital Marketing, Web Design, Digital Media, Computing, IT, Marketing or a closely related subject.
- Good working knowledge of digital marketing, web design and AI tools.
- Understanding of areas such as SEO, PPC, social media marketing, content creation, branding, websites and online campaigns.
- Practical knowledge of website design or website management, preferably including WordPress.
- Confidence using AI tools for content, research, marketing, design or productivity.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with learners, employers, partners and colleagues.
- Good organisation and attention to detail.
- A creative, proactive and problem-solving attitude.
- Willingness to learn and develop into a more specialised role over time.
